Palm Vein Recognition

Palm vein recognition is a biometric modality that uses near-infrared light to capture the unique subsurface vein pattern in a person's palm. Because vein patterns are internal and invisible to the naked eye, this modality is highly resistant to spoofing and works well where fingertips are worn or dirty.

Subsurface vein patterns cannot be lifted from surfaces or photographed, making spoofing significantly harder than with fingerprint or face modalities.

Voice Recognition (Biometric)

Biometric voice recognition is a behavioral modality that analyzes the acoustic and physiological characteristics of a person's speech, including pitch, cadence and vocal tract shape, to verify identity. False Rejection Rate (FRR)

False rejection rate (FRR) is the percentage of authentication attempts in which the system incorrectly denies access to a legitimate, enrolled individual. In timekeeping, a high FRR causes employees to be turned away at the clock, creating punch exceptions that require manual correction.

Formula: FRR = false rejections / total genuine attempts; acceptable FRR for time clock deployments is typically at or below 0.1%.

Equal Error Rate (EER)

Equal error rate (EER) is the point at which a biometric system's false acceptance rate and false rejection rate are equal, used as a single-number benchmark for comparing the overall accuracy of different biometric systems or modalities. A lower EER indicates a more accurate system.

EER provides a single comparison metric across modalities; iris and fingerprint recognition generally achieve lower EER than facial recognition, though algorithm quality varies.

Biometric Data Security

Biometric data security refers to the technical and policy controls that protect stored biometric templates from unauthorized access, breach or misuse. Because biometric traits cannot be reissued like passwords, a compromised template represents a permanent identity risk.
